Install

Hoshino installs just for you, without administrator access.

Open GitHub Releases, or use the download button on the website, which always grabs the newest build.
Download the installer, HoshinoEditor-Setup-<version>-win-x64.exe.
Run it and follow the setup wizard.
Open Hoshino Editor from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut, if you chose one.

Requirements#

64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or newer, or Windows 11.

Open with Hoshino Editor#

The first time it starts, Hoshino adds an Open with Hoshino Editor command for supported photo and video files, just for your user. On Windows 11 it may be under Show more options. Uninstalling Hoshino removes it.

Building it yourself#

You need Windows 10 or 11 and the .NET 10 SDK.

For speed-adjusted or upscaled video export in your own build, run .\scripts\Get-Ffmpeg.ps1 first; it downloads FFmpeg to Tools\ffmpeg.exe. The README covers building the installer.
